Welcome Back!  I hope you had a wonderful summer and are ready for an exciting school year.

I’d like to welcome our new principal, Dr. Ginger Vail and 3 new teachers to our dynamic staff:  Ms. Virginia Gillen (kindergarten), Ms. Kim Barbosa (1^st grade), Ms. Katie Vaheb (4^th grade) and a big congratulations to Mrs. Tara Verlin Carignan on her recent marriage. 

Throughout the year the PTA will be holding fundraisers, hosting a variety of fun family activities, such as Family Read-ins, restaurant nights, Parent Social/Kid’s Movie Night and so much more.  We will be sponsoring programs and author visits.  Our events could not happen though without parent volunteers.  Please consider volunteering even if you have only an hour to donate or want to commit to more, we will work with you to find the right spot. 

This year I aim to get 100% participation for PTA membership.  By joining the PTA you will receive a school directory, receive discounts with companies such as Met Life Auto & Home Insurance, T-Mobile and more, check out www.pta.org for a complete list of discounts available only to PTA members, forge new friendships for yourselves as well as your children and most importantly show your child that school is important and you support all the PTA has to offer.  If you get your membership form along with payment in by 10/01/10, you will be entered to win a $25 gift card to Stop & Shop.  Please show your support by joining the PTA.

First Meeting of the Year

Please join us for the first PTA General Membership meeting on Thurs. 9/16/10 at 7:30 pm in the Library Media Center.  This is a great way to be informed on happenings at McKinley, meet parents, learn about volunteering and hear about upcoming events and programs.
